Personality: Emotionally, Garnet is weak and wears her emotions on her sleeves. She's a very kind-hearted, loving young woman, and only wants the best for her people and those she loves, but her naivette hinders her. She know what she wants to do, but isn't exactly sure how to do it. She follows her heart blindly and is extremely loyal to her beliefs and her people, and is sometimes blinded by her love for them.
She is incredibly well-mannered, but is attempting to learn the speech patterns and mannerism of "commoners" in attempt to blend in. |
| CHARACTER BACKSTORY |
Garnet was born in Madain Sari and was given the birthname "Sarah." Madain Sari was destroyed while Sarah was young, and she and her mother fled for safety. Her mother didn't survive, but Sarah was taken in after their ship wrecked in Alexandria's harbour. Because of her resemblance to the queen's recently deceased daughter, Queen Brahne adopted her and gave her the name Garnet til Alexandros XVII (and removed her horn.) Suddenly, she was the heir to the throne.
The only memory of her past is a recurring nightmare about her and her mother's escape.
As Queen Brahne's behaviour became more hostile, Garnet (on her 16th birthday) decided to stow away on the Prima Vista, the ship of the theatre group Tantalus, so that she might travel to Lindblum to talk to Regent Cid about the queen's behaviour. However, during her attempt to stow away, she's caught up in the Tantalus' performance of "I Want to Be Your Canary" (Garnet's favourite play, as it were!) She refuses to leave with Steiner, and Tantalus decides they'd better make their leave.
However, the Prima Vista's attacked by the Queen's troops during their escape, and Garnet is captured by a plant thing after the ship crashes in Evil Forest. After she is rescued, she takes on the name Dagger and attempts to learn commoner speak to keep herself from being recognized as royalty. After battling the Black Waltz trio, the group eventually makes it to Lindblum, and Garnet is shocked to find that the Regent has been turned into an oglop.
After talking with him, Garnet wishes to return to Alexandria to alk to her mother, and drugs the party (save for Steiner) during dinner. After Garnet tells him of her plan, Steiner agrees to return her to Alexandria, and they leave. |
